Why Fire Resistant Plants and Trees?

Inherently Fire Retardant (IFR) plants are crafted using strict and rigid guidelines that impregnate the chemicals into the fabric prior to molding. This process ensures that the solution will not wash off, dissipate, drip off or leave a messy film on your products. In fact, testing has shown that our products become more fire retardant with age. All of our materials pass National Fire Prevention Association 701 test for non-flammability and California State Marshall Flame Resistant Product Registration. We can provide you with an IFR certificate for our products that are designed this way upon request.

Increasingly local and state regulations require that all public buildings including schools, office buildings and hospitals install IFR products and produce a certificate of authority for those materials. For specifically marked products, all of the foliage is infused with the proper chemicals and spot tested in a lab for consistency. It is important to understand that while all of our foliage is treated our natural trunks are not treated (we make sure to call this out all affected products). Most marshals do not require the trunks to be treated (as it is in the same class as wood furniture), but we advise you to check your local building codes and regulations and make sure you can use a hybrid tree. If not, we have plenty of options with branches and trunks that are completely artificial and treated.

How does it work?

The process works by extinguishing the flame when attempted lighting occurs. When you hold a lighter up to a leaf, the leaf will smoke and turn black but it will not ignite and spread to the remainder of the plant. In contrast, non-IFR artificial foliage, once lit can burn and spread to the remainder of the tree, causing a larger hazard to the furniture and area around the plant.

How long is the warranty on IFR line of products?

The fire retardant protection in our plants has a lifetime protection guarantee to not fail. We warranty normal wear and tear on our plants and trees for 1 year from the date of purchase for commercial installations.
