Welcome to our collection of artificial bird’s nest ferns. This fern gets its start in Asia, Africa and Australia and calls the rain forests home. It loves to nestle up next to rain trees and it comes by its name honestly. A really large leafy fern, it has a center stem that you can’t really see that is rigid and holds up all of those large water catchers. Rain water, debris and other food get trapped in the center of the plant and create a veritable humus of food to feed the plant’s roots. And because of its ability to self-sustain, it attracts small birds and other animals that will nest in its leaves and enjoy the cornucopia of water and food it collects. Hence the name. We loved this big leafy design so much that we had to capture in our designs.
Our artificial bird’s nest fern plants hopefully capture all of the beauty of their natural cousins. And we offer lots of different designs for just about any installation. We have short bushy tabletop designs, hanging plants, serrated ferns in urns all capturing the different ways this tropical fern can be found in a natural habitat. Probably the most common use of this house plant is to use it next to a couch or table that requires some extra pop of color without the height. Our smaller versions also look great on top of a large credenza or book case.
We use new real touch technology in their leaves so that they feel rubbery and soft to the touch on the top of the leaf. With a natural shine these house plants are difficult to tell from a live plant. Where this tropical plant is found in the world defines how the leaves are shaped in nature. In Singapore the leaves are huge and the plants grow low to the ground to capture the large amount of water that falls in the region. In Africa the leaf style is more serrated and designed to not only draw in water but to protect the plant from natural pests. We hope we’ve captured these unique characteristics in our artificial bird’s nest collection.
