Use Spring Flowers to Chase Away Winter Blues

Although it may not feel like it when most of the country is experiencing an arctic cold blast, Spring is right around the corner. The days are slowly getting longer, and soon early spring flowers will poke through the snow. When we think of early blooming bulbs, we often think of daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, crocuses, and narcissus, but several other flowers also appear before the winter snow is gone. Silk Tulips

The star-shaped flowers of the glory-of-the-snow plant bloom from February to March. These plants come in many colors and can be planted in zones 3-8. Winter aconite plants bloom from January to February and produce flowers that smell like honey. One of the earliest blooming flowers, the common snowdrop, can make its appearance as early as January and may pop up through snow.

The violet flowers of the netted iris bloom from January until March, an spring snowflake bulbs sprout from February through March. Initially planted in fall, these bulbs will bloom year after year. While it is too late to plant these bulbs to enjoy this spring, it is not too late to use spring flowers to brighten your home.

To add a touch of Spring to your winter decor, add a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers. Evoke feelings of spring with a vase full of tulips or daffodils on your dining room table or mantle. These artificial arrangements will help chase away the winter blues for years to come.
