Creating a designer-worthy deck or patio is a whole lot easier when you apply the same design principles that you use indoors. They are called “outdoor rooms” because they are meant to be every bit as inviting and comfortable as the rooms inside your home. If you have already placed some outdoor furniture on your deck but you still feel like there is something missing, try one of these outdoor decorating ideas.
Decorate the Walls
Outdoor rooms often have quite a bit of wall space too. The only difference is that siding and stucco and brick can seem more daunting when it comes to decorating. But if your room seems less than finished, it is probably wall hangings, artwork, and wall sconces that it is calling for. When choosing wall decor for your deck, just make sure that the items that you use will hold up to the elements and use picture hanging hardware that is intended for the surface you are nailing into.
Create a Comfortable Temperature
When a deck or patio seems too hot or too cold, we are less likely to spend our time there. Fortunately there are things that we can do to help control the comfort level of your outdoor room. Patio heaters, ceiling fans, coolers filled with ice cold waters, and fire pits can help heat you up or cool you off.
Add Some Softness
Everybody is more enticed to spend time in a space that is nice and cozy. Plush furniture cushions, warm throw blankets, and plenty of decorative pillows are all items that can help you achieve a cozy room.
