It is that time of year again. The sun goes down and the mosquitos come out and start biting. If you think there is nothing you can do to control these pesky little biters, think again. Here are some easy ways that you can repel mosquitos and reclaim your back yard.
Get Out the Citronella
Citronella candles, stakes, and oils are all common repellants for mosquitos. If you are planning to be outdoors after dark, make sure to have plenty of citronella candles on hand. They offer extra lighting and are effective too.
Spray Your Yard
There are many different sprays out there that you can connect to your hose and apply to your yard in order to control mosquitos. These are readily available in the local garden center of your big box store and take just minutes to apply.
Clear Out Any Standing Water
Standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitos. Make sure that you don’t have any old water in buckets, planters, bird feeders, or water tables. If so make sure to rinse them out and replace that water regularly.
Plant Lavender and Lemon Grass
Both lavender and lemon grass are natural repellants of mosquitos. Use them to surround your deck or patio and keep those little biters at bay.
