There is definitely a back-to-nature trend in interior design. Many popular designers are using raw elements in their interiors. Raw wood, stones, minerals, and plants have become important design features.
Bring in Raw Wood
Raw wood can be incorporated into your design several ways. Add a rough hewn wood table in front of a sofa to give balance to the soft seating. Frame a piece of art in barn wood to add that natural element. Pieces of driftwood can be added to a tables cape for contrast.
Decorate with Stone
Minerals and stones are also popular additions to interiors. A collection of geodes can add color and drama to a side table or bookcase. Rocks and stones are beautiful in a glass bowl. Add water and floating candles for evening appeal. Evoke spa-like serenity with a bowl of flat stones in a guest bathroom.
Add Greenery
Don’t have a green thumb? Get the same back-to-nature effect with artificial potted plants. A potted spathiphyllum in a wicker and rope container has a raw appeal. Or consider a plant such as a philodendron in a basket for an earthy touch. Looking to nature for your design elements is a great way to add interest to your space.
