The rocking chair first came on the scene back in the early 1700s and has been evolving ever since. Many original rocking chairs were built to accommodate two people and were popular for nursing mothers and the elderly. Today, they have become a quintessential piece of American porch furniture. You can hardly drive through the South without seeing them in pairs gracing front porches and back decks alike.

Virtually every style of outdoor furniture comes in a rocking design, including Adirondack chairs, benches, wicker chairs, and more. Of course, all of these different styles don’t speak to everyone. Let us know which of these styles are your favorites.
