Bamboo Fence

Bamboo is one of the most popular plants to find growing throughout China. If you want to add an instant Asian touch to your yard, cover your existing fence with an artificial bamboo fence roll. Simply unroll it along the length of your fence and not only will you soften your space, but you will hide an unsightly aging fence.

Trickling Water

Water is an important part of Asian landscape design. You can add this feature in a variety of ways. If you are ambitious, you could add a coy pond. If you are looking for a faster and easier solution, consider getting an Asian-inspired fountain. The gentle sound will add a relaxing element to your space, especially if it is placed within earshot of a comfortable seating area.

Rock Gardens

If you live in a climate that is dry and struggle getting grass to thrive, Asian landscape design may be just the answer. Rock gardens, also called Zen gardens, are a popular component of Oriental landscapes. Purchase large bags of small rocks at your local garden center. First, plant a few Asian plants, spacing them at least a few feet apart from one another. If you don’t want to add plants, you can opt for large rocks or boulders instead. Then cover the whole area with the rocks. Use a rake to add patterned circles, arches and swirls in the rock design. The raking itself is a tranquil experience.

Finish your new space with accessories that coordinate with your new Asian design. Cedar deck tile welcome mats, bamboo planters, and Oriental accessories will help bring each of these elements together to help create a cohesive design.
