Since 1914 Americans have been honoring their mothers one special day out of the year. Although it took a wile to catch on, Mother’s Day is now celebrated worldwide. With Mother’s Day just three weeks away it is time to start thinking about what special gift you are going to give her this year. Don’t forget about those kids and grandkids. Here is an easy way to get them involved in this special day.
Get the Kids Involved
If you have little ones that need help showing Mom how much they care, get them involved in the dessert prep. First, head to your grocery store and purchase a cake without any writing or decorations in the middle. Then go to your local craft store and pick up the edible papers and food safe markers in their cake-decorating aisle.
Give each kid in the family a sheet of the edible paper and let them draw a picture just for Mom. When they are done, simply cut around the perimeter of their design and place it directly on a cake with white icing. Even your smallest ones can feel proud to be part of the process and this dessert is sure to be one Mom will remember.
A Lasting Sentiment
Mother’s day is a huge day for florists nationwide. Unfortunately, the pricey and extravagant arrangements only last for a week or two. Instead of getting your mother another display of lilies that will be drooping in just days, show her that your love and appreciation is everlasting by gifting her with an artificial floral arrangement. Silk flowers look just as beautiful as the real thing but will stay looking great far after the celebration is over.
