Start getting excited about Spring and Summer by planning your pool deck. Designing a welcoming and comfortable pool deck is about the perfect marriage of style and safety. We will show you some of our favorite selections for outdoor pool furniture and talk about how to position them so you always have a clear view of your children. We love Polywood patio furniture for pool decks because of the incredible durability of the materials. Because the lumber used to create this line of furniture is actually manufactured out of recycled bottles and colored consistently throughout, it is completely resistant to fading and chipping. Even more importantly, this furniture will not mold, mildew, or rust when exposed to the elements. That is exactly what you want out of pool deck furniture, which will often be wet.
Select Your Furniture
Resort pool decks feature a winning combination of all of these pieces. Lounge chairs are the most relaxing but they are not a good place to sit and enjoy a meal. We recommend at least a pair of lounge chairs but then sprinkle in some arm chairs with ottomans. The ottomans allow the people in arm chairs to have their choice between pulling up to a dining table or kicking up their feet on an ottoman. When you select the dining table, make sure that you have enough seating for your immediate family at minimum. You may want to take detailed measurements of your space when making your final selections.
Popular pool deck furniture includes:
- Dining Tables & Chairs
- Arm Chairs
- Ottomans
- Lounge Chairs
- Side Tables
Position Furniture with Safety in Mind
Once you have selected which outdoor furniture you need to complete your design, it is time to decide where to place the tables and chairs. When your children are swimming, you want to make sure that you are able to keep your eyes on them at all time. Make watching them even easier by positioning a series of arm chairs and lounge chairs around the pool deck. Try positioning the arm chairs and lounge chairs facing the pool from various angles. Place small side tables between each pair of chairs so everyone has a place to set a drink, book, or magazine.
If you have opted for a dining table, it can be placed a little farther from the pool edge. Still make sure that at least one person seated at the table has a clear view of the pool if you plan on having children swim while adults are eating. We highly recommend purchasing plastic, unbreakable plates and glasses for use on a pool deck. If one happens to fall you will not be at risk of having broken glass get into the pool itself.
Color it with Cushions
Many of these pool deck furniture pieces have the options of additional cushions. Cushions are a great way to express your personal style while adding a pop of color. Try changing them up from year to year to completely revamp your look.
