I just have to share with you my weekend project. This one, granted is a super fast project but it is so beneficial for anyone who loves outdoor entertaining. We recently built a deck on the back of our house and decorated it with an outdoor dining table and patio umbrella. Unfortunately, lighting has been a problem for us because once the sun goes down, we are forced inside. This weekend we took our first step toward changing all that.
My friend found a package of patio umbrella lights at Target for $10 and thought of me. I am glad she did because they are a great solution to our serious lack of lighting. This set of lights featured a round disk in the center that gets screwed onto the pole of the umbrella. Attached to that disk are six strands of christmas lights that are the approximate length of each rib of the umbrella. Zip ties and clips are also included in the package. You simply zip tie the clip to the rib of the umbrella and then clip the lights to it.
The whole process took my friend and I about a half hour to complete and when we were done, we were more than pleased with the results. The disk slides up and down the pole as you raise and lower the umbrella, making it easy to use the umbrella as we always did. They also move with the umbrella as we tilt it in different positions to protect us from the sun.
If you have a patio umbrella on your deck or patio, this is a great way to add both light and ambiance to your space after dark. I am not completely done with solving our outdoor lighting issues but this product definitely helped me along the way.
