If you’re searching for an artificial Christmas tree sale and struggle to find the kind of steep discounts you crave, you may be feeling frustrated—especially with Christmas right around the corner. That’s understandable, but don’t lose heart. Even if you don’t find an amazing artificial Christmas tree sale this season, there is still a clear savings associated with choosing a faux Christmas tree, according to a recent report in the Los Angeles Times.
In the Business section of the Dec. 10 online edition of the LA Times, reporter Tiffany Hsu cited a recent analysis conducted by the American Christmas Tree Association that showed purchasing one pre-lit artificial Christmas tree up front is 70 percent cheaper than buying a live tree each Christmas for a decade.
A non-profit organization that educates consumers about making financially-savvy Christmas tree purchases, the American Christmas Tree Association is featuring the results of its analysis on its website.
A summary of the report says “the facts are clear. Artificial Christmas trees save real money over the annual purchase of Christmas trees.”
The report goes on to say that after 10 years, savings grow exponentially for the average artificial Christmas tree owner.
“With many consumers keeping their artificial tree for 20 years or more, tree savings are even greater,” the summary says.
There you have it: Whether or not you find an artificial Christmas tree sale, it’s more cost-effective to invest in an artificial Christmas tree than to cut one down at your local tree farm every year.
