How to Decorate with a Spring Wreath

The earliest wreaths were made of fabric, adorned with jewels and worn as headbands. They were later made of laurel leaves and branches of local trees. Early Europeans hung wreaths on their doors to identify their houses. Today we enjoy wreaths as decorations year round. Welcome the season with a beautiful spring wreath.

Selecting a Spring Wreath
When selecting a spring wreath, think of flowers that typically bloom in the spring. A beautiful lilac, peony, cherry blossom, or magnolia leaf wreath would be a perfect harbinger of spring.  Any flower covered wreath would also work as long as the flowers are a soft pastel color.

Decorating a Spring Wreath
While the spring flowers alone might be decoration enough, the addition of a bow is always a nice touch. Select a wide wired ribbon in a pastel color that complements the flowers in the wreath. Make a simple bow and attach it slightly off center on the bottom for an interesting wreath. To give your wreath an Easter theme, attach small plastic eggs or other Easter decoration to your spring wreath.

Alternate Uses for a Wreath
While a wreath on the front door is a festive way to welcome visitors to your home, there are other uses for a spring wreath. Turn a wreath into a candle ring for a festive centerpiece or place a wreath flat on a table with a candy dish or glass cylinder in the center. Fill the cylinder with pastel candies or jelly beans for a decorative, and tasty Easter centerpiece.
