Celebrate any holiday in a festive way without spending a lot of money on decorations. Cardstock bunting banners are easy to make and a great way to express your creativity and is so easy to make that you can even get the kids involved. A single trip to your local craft store will have you ready to make Halloween mantle decorations on a budget.
This unconventional mantle features a large glass window behind it instead of a wall. While the window offers a stunning view of the lake in the backyard but it can also pose some challenges when decorating. The perfect solution for this home is sticking with nice, low decorations that don’t obstruct the view and a trick or treat bunting fits that bill to a tee.
This homeowner took a standard 12 inch by 12 inch piece of cardstock and cut each one of them into a large triangle shape. A quick border accent and a letter monogram sticker brought them to life. Before finishing up she punched holes in both of the upper corners and fed the ribbon through the holes before tacking it to the mantle itself.
A potted artificial plant at the base of the hearth, a prelit black garland draped above the bunting, and a basket of scented pinecones complete the look.
With a little creativity and a free afternoon, you can have a custom mantle display that celebrates whatever holiday you are celebrating. Choose glittered red and green papers for Christmas, vibrant reds for Valentine’s day, and soft pastels for Easter.
