Create a ghoulish and downright spooky Halloween tablescape with a black and cream color scheme. Halloween isn’t all about bright orange and cheerful pumpkins. If you love the darker side of the holiday this is the project for you.
Don’t be afraid to use things that you already decorate your home with other times of the year. The idea behind this centerpiece all started with a cake plate that was purchased at a local flea market. I was determined to find a great way to use it for something other than cakes and as I was walking through the Halloween department at my local big box store, this idea came to me. A simple $5 skull, a $15 domed cake plate, and a pair of white pumpkins that were $1 each were paired with other decorations that I had accumulated over the years.
I started this scene by taking a package of artificial cobwebs and covering by kitchen island with it. Inside the cake plate I put a bed of black cording to add some contrast to the cream colored skull. Simple black wooden candlesticks I have had for years act as pedestals for my cream colored natural pumpkins. Battery operated tea lights were placed inside of mini birdcages. Finally, a trio of plastic spiders completes the table.
This would be the ideal centerpiece for a Halloween party and could easily be placed on an entry table for all to see when they come to trick or treat. Make a high contrast black and cream centerpiece in your home this year and make sure to send is a picture of the result.
