One of my favorite things about using artificial flowers to create an arrangement, other than the low-maintenance quality, is that it gives me the freedom to use any vase fillers I want to enhance the look. Instead of being tied down to water only, you can have fun while reflecting your own personality with your choice of vase fillers.
Theme-Oriented
Some vase fillers can be chosen to coordinate with the theme of the room they will be decorating. Sand and seashells at the bottom of a vase is perfect for a seaside cottage while wine corks could not be more appropriate for a dining room or bar area. If you are placing a floral arrangement in a craft room buttons or beads could be used.
Fragrant Options
Why not take advantage of something that is dual purpose, both beautiful and aromatic. Coffee grounds look just like soil, adding a realistic look to artificial plants. It is an added bonus that the whole room will smell like your favorite coffee blend. If you want a more artistic look, try whole coffee beans instead of ground coffee. There are other options for scented fillers as well, including potpourri, cinnamon sticks, or peppermints.
Nature-Inspired
Why not pay tribute to the beautiful aspects of nature with your selection of vase fillers? Small pinecones, artificial moss, artificial leaves, and river rocks are all beautiful when placed inside a clear glass vase.
Sweet Selections
The holidays would not be the same without the festive candies that come with them. Conversation hearts at Valentine’s Day, jelly beans at easter, candy corn at Halloween, and peppermints at Christmas are all festive vase fillers.
No matter what type of fillers you choose, have fun with it. Play on the colors of your blooms or the themes of your rooms.
