The number of species of flowering plants and flowering trees is estimated to be about between 25,000 and 40,000 species. These plants are scientifically classified similarly because they bear flowers. The various parts of the flower include sepals, petals, stamens and carpals. Flowering plants and flowering trees have mind boggling diversity but the diversity is not evenly distributed, nearly all the species of flowering plants belong to the eudicot, monocot and magnolid clades. The remaining 5 clades contain a little over 250 species. A total which is a very small proportion of the entire gamut of flowering plants.
Flowering plants and flowering trees are also known as angiosperms. They are the most widespread group of land plants. The spermatophytes are those plants that produce seeds. The angiosperms and gymnosperms are the two groups of seed plants that exist. The flowering plants have wonderful diversity and you will be baffled when you research them.
The earliest flowering plants and flowering trees identified date back 125 to 142 million years. In 1996 a paleontologist from the United Kingdom discovered fossils of Bevhalstia Pebja, a wetland herb plant about 25 cms high and dated it back 130 million years. The fossils were discovered in Southern England. The earliest fossils of a flowering plant or tree are dated roughly 125 million years ago. Charles Darwin called it an ‘abominable mystery’ – the sudden appearance of relatively modern flowers on a flowering plant. He understood that flowering plants are the most important plant species for the world from an ecological standpoint. Flowering plants and flowering trees are found in every habitat in the world. They form the habitats of many types of grasslands. The grasses in grasslands are indeed all flowering plants themselves. Most forests and most terrestrial habitats have a wide diversity of flowering tree and plant life as well
These flowering plants and flowering trees are both the food source and shelter for small animals and organisms that live in them. For humans they provide the lion share of our food. Flowering plants and trees are also used to build shelters in most developing countries in the world..
The most common flowering trees in the United States are the dogwood tree, crabapple tree, cherry tree & the Mulberry tree. These flowering trees can be grown in your yard in the proper climate. On the east coast the Dogwood tree is one of the most popular flowering trees. Dogwood trees can bloom pink or white flowers to add a touch of color to your life.
At Artificial Plants and Trees we are dedicated to bringing you beautiful artificial flowering plants and trees that mimic trees enjoyed in nature.
