Whether you host Thanksgiving dinner every year or you are hosting for the first time, today’s blog is for you. Hosting a successful turkey dinner starts with having the perfect table to gather around. Finding the perfect table can be very difficult. Luckily we have broken down the essential things to take into consideration when choosing the ideal Thanksgiving Table.
Quality Counts
If you are considering purchasing a new table, don’t underestimate the importance of investing in a quality piece. I am a huge fan of teak tables because they can be used indoors or outdoors to create a lovely dining space. Informal dining rooms and bright sunrooms are just calling for a transitional piece such as this. Because they are made out of solid teak and hardware that is specifically intended for outdoor use, you know that they will hold up to the elements.
Table Size
You can’t serve up a delicious turkey dinner without having a nice, long table to serve it on. Even if you are only cooking for your immediate family, the mass quantity of serving plates alone take up a ton of room in the center of the table. When you are purchasing a dining table it is such a great idea to choose extension tables because they offer ultimate flexibility on size. I have a table with two leaves myself and I can not tell you how often we use that extra space to host guests.
Comfort Counts
This is not your typical 30-minute dinner. Thanksgiving can be an epic battle of man verses turkey, potatoes, and stuffing. For a meal that long, you will want to make sure that everyone has a comfortable place to sit. Make any wood chairs infinitely more comfortable by adding seat cushions. Now is a great time to purchase outdoor seat cushions because as we get deeper into fall, huge price cuts are made on summer furnishings.
Type of Chair
Keep in mind that when you put in those extra table extensions, you are also going to need additional seating. Many of our dining tables come with teak folding chairs. This is such a great idea because they are super easy to store when they are not in use. If you go with more traditional chairs, it helps if you have another place that you can use them when your table is set at a smaller size. Placing a pair on your porch or creating an intimate seating area elsewhere is always a viable option and keeps the chairs close at hand for when you need them.
