Flowers have an amazing ability to remind you of a specific place, event, or person. This could not be any more true for me. Hostas remind me of summers at my Grandmother’s house, which was surrounded by these green plants. A single dogwood flower instantly reminds me of my Grandfather. Calla lilies bring back the joyous memories from my wedding and thoughts of my mother, who shares them as a favorite flower which is probably the reason I chose them for my wedding in the first place.
What flowers or plants hold special meaning for you? Do they grow naturally in your region? Would it make you happier if you saw those plants or flowers every time you pulled in your driveway or walked into your home? For me, the answer is absolutely a yes, but the flowers that mean the most to me simply don’t thrive in my climate zone.
My solution is using artificial flowers both outside and inside to bring back those feelings of love, fondness, and good times. With such high quality faux flowers available today, it is easy to fill the inside and outside of your home with your favorites.
If some of your favorites grow naturally but others don’t, go ahead and plant artificials in among your natural plants. The proximity to natural plants will make the artificials even harder to decipher and the synthetic flowers won’t compromise the root systems of your natural flowers.
