No Christmas decorations are complete without plenty of sparkling lights. With as many Christmas light strands and lighted decorations as there are today, there is no reason that every room in your home shouldn’t be merry and bright this holiday season. Here are some new products and new applications that will help you update your Christmas décor for the holiday season.
Battery-Operated Christmas Lights
Stop limiting your holiday decorating to the length of your power cords. Virtually all Christmas light styles are now available in battery-operated versions. These are perfect for inside a basket or clear bowl, wrapped around a wreath, twisted around decorations above your cabinets or on high furniture. Anywhere you don’t have an outlet, use these convenient light strands.
Light Spheres
Create a beautiful focal point with light balls. These orbs vary in size and are covered in traditional Christmas lights. If you love light balls but have never found out how to use them in your own home, check out these great options. First, hang a large one in every front-facing window of your home. For nigh-time joy, hang one over a twin bed or a set of three over the headboard of a king bed. Hang one from the center of an unlit wreath for an instant focal point or suspend them from the ceiling above a pony wall for a decorative pass-through. When it comes to these sparkling beauties, the options are endless.
Retro Lights
Do you love reminiscing about Christmases past? Pay homage to those memories with new Christmas lights with a retro look. Line your mantle or windowsill with vintage-inspired bubble lights. The colorful decorative bases and multi-colored lights add an instant casual charm to any space.
Light Garlands
Trade out all those old light strands for light garlands. These continuous strands of lights are perfect for wrapping or draping. Drape them delicately over a headboard, frame your front door, or wrap them around trees, railings, and mailbox posts. You can use light garlands alone or pair them with your favorite greenery for an even more stunning effect.
Light Add-Ons
These easy projects are perfect ways to get your kids involved in decorating for the holidays. Even novice DIYers can master the first easy add-on. That unsightly expanse of wire between lights can be covered with fabric or tulle in your favorite colors or patterns. Cut small strips of fabric a couple inches wide and eight inches long or so. Then simply tie them in a knot around the wire between lights, leaving an equal length on each side. Repeat the process again and again until all your wire is covered.
