It is national picnic day! Celebrate this invitation to go outdoors by getting your picnic table ready for the summer season.
A Good Cleaning
Start by giving your existing picnic tables and other outdoor furniture a good end-of-spring cleaning. Once they are clean and dry, check out their overall condition. If screw need tightened or stain needs touched up, go ahead and spend a weekend day sprucing them up.
Picnic Tables
Don’t have a picnic table? Invest in one and enjoy dinners al fresco. Picnic tables are available in a variety of styles and sizes. You can enjoy their natural color or paint them a bold and bright color. You can even get pint-sized versions for the little ones in your family.
Planning a Picnic
You don’t have to fire up the grill to have a great picnic outdoors. Make it easy by purchasing pre-cut fruit salads from the grocery store. Lay out a plate of your favorite sandwiches, some raw veggies and ranch dressing, and the fruit. Toothpicks allow your kiddos to pick at a little bit of everything without digging their hands into the platters. Why not try serving summer lunches outdoors and keeping the mess out of your dining room?
Add Some Shade
Many picnic tables feature a hole in the center. This hole is built into the table to accommodate an umbrella. Umbrellas don’t just provide you with shade to keep you cool, they also protect you and your family from the sun’s damaging rays. If your picnic table does not already feature an umbrella, consider getting a cantilever umbrella to place alongside it.
