When you are fortunate enough to live near the beach, why not reflect that incredible scene of nature in your holiday décor? Creating sophisticated, yet rustic beachy Christmas tree decorations is so easy and inexpensive that you may never purchase traditional glass ball ornaments again. This is also a great option for the small tree that you may place on an entry table or as a focal point in a dining room. Here is how you can get this look in your home.
Supply List
• Burlap Ribbon (4 inches wide)
• Bleached Sand Dollars
• Jute String
• Floral Wire
Step 1:
Take the burlap ribbon and create a custom tree topper. Start with the end of the ribbon in the center back and loop the ribbon back to the center one direction, holding the two pieces of burlap together with your thumb. Make a loop of equal size going back the other direction, holding the layers together with your thumb and forefinger each time you pass. Continue doing this, making each loop smaller and smaller until you make one small loop in the center. Take a one-foot piece of floral wire and pass it through the center of the bow, twisting it tight in the back and using the tails of the bow to secure it to the tree itself.
Step 2:
Wrap the extra burlap ribbon around the tree, twisting it occasionally as you go for extra interest.
Step 3:
Thread a piece of jute through a bleached sand dollar, tie the ends, and hang the ornament on the Christmas tree. Repeat this until all of your sand dollars are beautifully suspended on the pre-lit artificial Christmas tree.
