When you think of gazebos, pergolas, and trellises, you probably consider them more of a back-yard item and until recently, I did too. But what about the view that we have of our homes from the street? Many homes have part or all of their back yard viewable from the street level, especially if your home is situated on a corner lot. If that sounds like you, gazebos, trellises, and pergolas can really enhance the curb appeal of your home.
Take this house for example. The side part of their back yard is actually viewable from the front of the house. These homeowners took this into considering when positioning his gazebo and designing his flower beds and landscaping.
I was particularly drawn to the bright colors of the plants that were chosen The bright reds, yellows, and oranges are eye-catching as you walk down the street and see nothing but a sea of green. This big overgrown plants allow you to get a feel for how beautiful the back yard is while still providing plenty of privacy for the family who may be enjoying it.
As we approach Spring, walk out to your front yard and see what is visible from street view. Then start thinking about all those different angles and the different ways in which you could enhance that view while still providing yourself with a very functional outdoor living space. Once you have a game plan, it is time to shop for trellises, gazebos, and arbors.
