Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples, it is also a great opportunity for us to show our children, nieces, and nephews just how much we love them. As a child, my father always sent me roses and chocolates to school on Valentine’s day. While my kids are not quite old enough to start that tradition just yet, I still try to make this holiday special for them as well. I am a big fan of the dollar section of Target and that is where I ran across these adorable little mailboxes. With less than 10 minutes a box and some simple vinyl letters, I was able to personalize these Valentine’s Day mailboxes for my kids.
Select Vinyl Letters
Once you have your mailboxes, go to your local craft supply store (Michael’s, Joann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, etc) and get a couple packs of alphabet stickers in a nice, big font. I happen to own a Cricut die cut machine so I simply cut my letters out of vinyl but stickers work just as well if you do not happen to have a personal die cutting machine. If you want, you can always add heart or rose stickers as well. I purchased some but I am going to let the kids add them in the morning.
Position the letters on the Mailbox
Next, go ahead and position the letters on the mailbox, making sure to smooth out any air bubbles as you go. I wrapped my letters around the side because Kayla and Grady each had names that were too long to fit along a side.
Fill it Up
Now that your mailbox is decorated, go ahead and fill it up with little gifts for your son or daughter. I like to place mine on the kitchen table so that when they get up for breakfast their Valentine’s mailboxes are waiting for them.
Have fun with this last-minute craft project and feel free to let it inspire you to do other things with vinyl lettering and stickers.
