Looking at my festive Christmas tree, I am reminded of how bare the house will look when all of the decorations come down. That is when I bring in some potted plants. Why not replace your holiday decorations with year-round greenery.
When you remove your Christmas tree, replace it with an artificial topiary in a decorative pot or urn. The greens will add a hint of color to any room and the pot will add architectural interest. For a more tropical feel, use an artificial palm or potted tree. Either would take up visual space, add a pop of color, and offer a focal point.
The mantle is another part of the house in need of attention when the garlands and stockings come down. For a nice transition from holiday decorations, place several mantle topiaries above the fireplace. A planter with trailing ivy or philodendron would also add a touch of green to your fireplace mantle and fill in space.
Finally, replace a holiday centerpiece with a beautiful floral arrangement for a hint of the Spring to come. Replacing your holiday decorations with year-round greenery will help keep your home from looking under decorated.
