Celebrate all that glistens this holiday season by decorating your home with metallic Christmas decorations. Gold, silver, champagne and copper are popular colors this season and for anyone that loves a little glitz, it is easy to see why. Each of these colors can be incorporated year-round to jazz up your décor but when used right during the holidays, adds a sophistication and elegance that simply can’t be matched. Here are some fun ways to add metallic to your home this Christmas.
Framed Wreaths
Even small wreaths can become stunning focal points with the right treatment. Start with a gold or silver frame. Remove the glass and frame a piece of wrapping paper with metallic elements. Keep the paper somewhat simple so it isn’t too busy. Tie a length of coordinating ribbon from the top of your wreath and drape it over the top of the frame, securing it to the back of the frame with staples. Just hang the frame on the wall and you will have an instant conversation piece. The best part of this application is that you can change up the wrapping paper in the frame every year for a new look. After the holidays are over frame family photos in its place.
Adding Metallic Colors to Your Tree
There are a number of ways to bring metallic to your tree. You can go as simple as adding round ornaments in your favorite metallic finish to your existing color scheme or jazz it up by placing sprigs of metallic branches randomly around your tree. Top off your masterpiece with a metallic tree topper.
If you are really daring, you can even purchase metallic artificial Christmas trees. These pre-lit trees are available in a wide range of colors, including gold, champagne, silver, and copper. You could even go with a black tree and decorate it with a combination of metallic ornaments. Coordinating artificial wreaths in metallic colors are also readily available.
Glitz for Your Table
Decorating a table with metallics is one of the easiest ways to bring the finish into your home. Start by searching your cupboards for any silver or gold bowls, candlesticks, votive holders and decorations. For a dressy look, lay a velvet table runner down the length of your table in a chocolate brown, deep cranberry or hunter green color. Layer winding garlands, candleholders, and ornaments on top of the runner for a festive centerpiece that is both quick and easy.
For the place settings themselves, invest in plain white dishes because they are so versatile. Just sit a wide dish over a metallic charger for an instant touch of elegance. Silver banded wine glasses and nice, shiny silverware is all you need to complete the look. Set the table according to the type of meal that you are serving. Keep it simple for a casual family dinner or go festively fancy with a 5-course setup. Whichever you choose your tablescape is sure to keep your guests talking about your holiday party. Which metallic color is your favorite and how are you going to use it in your home?
