Cactuses, (OK, cacti) are just so cute. We are seeing them pop up on design blogs all over the place, especially mini cactuses. Usually, several different types are displayed together in small decorative planters in eye-catching shapes or colors. These darling displays are simply irresistible.
There are many ways you can use cactuses creatively, but one concept we really love is the cactus wedding place card. As fabulous design becomes more and more important to brides and grooms, the pressure to make little details shine is mounting–and this is one way to make sure your place cards stand out. Of course, you will want to make sure that cactuses are appropriate for the theme and location of your wedding. Southwest and western locales generally work best.
You can order ready-made cactus place cards, but to save money you may want to buy them unpotted and plant them in the small containers of your choosing. The good thing about cactuses is they last with little tending, so even if they arrive a couple weeks before your wedding they should hold up with a little tending. Or, you can use artificial cactuses to create your place cards. In this case, you might hide flower foam with sand instead of soil, as the soil will dry out.
