Offer your guests plenty of entertainment when you outfit your yard with any or all of these fun summer games. With 4th of July fast approaching, it is the perfect time to purchase a new outdoor game set. Guests of all ages can play all three of the backyard games in this list. Which one is your favorite?
1. Bocce Ball
Although it is hundreds of years old, Bocce Ball has recently made a huge comeback as a popular backyard game. Bocce Ball sets are readily available at sporting goods stores and online. This game has a pretty-much open court design. You just need grassy, soil, or asphalt surface that is flat and level. Anywhere from 2 to 8 players can break up into two teams and play this game. Because it requires virtually no setup, it is a great choice for tailgates, impromptu get-togethers, and outdoor parties.
2. Horseshoes
This is an oldie but a goodie. Many families already own a set of horseshoes. If you have one stored away in a she or garage, break it out for your next backyard venue. Both children and adults alike love hurling the curved pieces of iron, or plastic in some case, to the pin. Why not line up a couple different games in a row and have a tournament?
3. Cornhole
You can hardly go past a tailgate without seeing a game of cornhole in progress. This great outdoor game costs a little bit more initially. A set of boards and bags will run you at least 60 dollars or so. The angled boards are placed on a flat piece of land, 45 feet apart from hole to hole. Players take turns throwing bags in an effort to score points. Each bag that lands on the board gets one point but if you make it into the hole you get three points. The first team to hit 21 points wins. This back-yard favorite is sure to entertain your guests for hours.
