How To: Use Outdoor Artificial Plants

Using artificial flowers in dark rooms that don’t get enough sunlight is quite common. You aren’t limited to having artificial arrangements in basements or bathrooms anymore. In fact, there are some beautiful artificial plants that are intended for outdoor use. These are a great option if you live in a particularly harsh climate, are out of town a lot, or have a favorite plant that doesn’t grow in your region. Here are some great tips for low maintenance outdoor artificial plants.

Hide Electrical Boxes
If you have unsightly electrical boxes or air conditioning units in your yard, artificial trees are a great way to hide them. Place a row of artificial cedar trees in front of your air conditioning unit. It won’t affect the function of the unit but will instantly add to the curb appeal of your home. This is a great place to get maintenance free plants because they are often in dark corners that don’t get enough sunlight or water.

Add Pops of Color
Artificial hanging baskets add a permanent pop of color to your porch or patio. These plants look as beautiful as the real thing but you don’t have to worry about getting the watering can out.

Perfect Window Boxes
If you feel as though you are constantly replanting your window boxes, consider trading out your temperamental plants for artificial ones. You can get artificial bushes and flowers unpotted and arrange them easily in a window box that has been filled with florist foam and topped with moss or rocks.
